We Need More Prophets Like David Robinson

Let me start off by saying that preaching is my favorite passion; it is what I was born to do. I never conjured this idea up to be a preacher one day and I certainly do not have the mere talents to know how to preach effectively...so God stepped in long ago and worked all of that out. When I preach, he preaches...through me...every time. There is no question that transformational preaching is a work of the Holy Spirit. That's why, when I see others speak, preach, share, teach, encourage, I sense the overwhelming power potential in words.

The way that Jesus reached people always took on a different form. For some, He reached them through healing. For others, He reached them through a parable that revolved around where they were in life. He told parables about fishing when He came into contact with fishermen. He told parables about various walks of life, hoping to tie in the lessons of God to something that they could understand. Upper 90 Ministry is seeking to do the same thing, using the most global sport in the world to open the door for the message of Jesus.

Last blog, we talked about writing a quality cover letter, so we’re going to focus on resumes this week. It’s important to remember that you don’t have to be the most qualified candidate to get called for an interview. You simply have to make the strongest case for yourself, and nobody should be able to do that better than you! Just like your cover letter should make the employer eager to read your resume, your resume should make him eager to meet with you face-to-face. You accomplish this by selling yourself better than the other applicants. Think of it like this: people don’t spend $100 on Nike tennis shoes because they’re the best shoes in the world. They might or might not be; I really don’t know. People buy them because the advertisers sell them! So your resume is your advertisement. You’re the marketer and the product! That said, you should tailor your resume to suit the needs of your target market (the employer). In other words, you should have a standard resume that can be adjusted slightly depending on the position you’re seeking and the personality of the hiring person.

I encourage you to take a few minutes and listen to David Robinson's Hall of Fame acceptance speech. He is a class act and in a time when "Thanking God" while being honered has become a watered down tradition, David takes praising God to a whole new level. I have looked up to him for his civil service and faith ever since I was a little boy and his willingness to praise God while on the highest public pedestal is a moment I will not forget.

All of a sudden, it was all that everyone was talking about. Images from the video had made the cover of the New York Post. Every sports talk radio station in America was fielding calls and providing commentary on this video of ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews. It became a craze on the internet and one of the most searched topics on internet search engines this year. There were those who could not resist looking up the video to see what they could of Erin. There were others who talked about how terrible of an act that this is and chastised the person who made the video. Which one were you? There is a deeper issue at hand...

Hi Eve, my name is Max. I'm 16 years old, and as most teenage guys, am totally attracted to woman. Being a christian guy I see my Purity as a top priority in my life. But I was just wondering if woman have just as hard of time keeping their purity? Like do they struggle with the same things us guys do, or do they have a totally different set of things to fight against? Because I have been pondering lately about my future wife, and hoping and praying that she keeps her purity for me, because I am trying really hard to stay pure for her.
